Your therapist

Cailey Martin, LMT.

Cailey considered long-term careers in both early childhood Social Work and Exercise Science, but along the winding road plagued by unprecedented times that accompanies all Millennials, she found her purpose in Massage Therapy. The repetitive motions and physical demands of both athletics and musicianship throughout her younger years gave Cailey a unique window into the aches and injuries both she and her peers experienced, sparking her interest in the importance of conditioning and bodywork.

Frequently Asked Questions.

  • The therapist will go over the client’s medical intake form to begin. Based on the details provided and informed consent, both client and therapist will agree on a pattern of work for that specific therapy. For a full body treatment, the therapist will work the client’s scalp, facial muscles, neck, arms, and hands, followed by the feet, legs, gluteal muscles, and back. The order of this work can be completely changed and customized, and any areas of the body can always be omitted from the therapy! This will be verified verbally with the client before the therapist begins the treatment. The therapist will then inform the client that they will step out of the room, at which time the client will disrobe to their level of comfort, then lay completely covered under the sheet- either face up or face down as discussed during intake. The therapist will then knock to ensure the client is ready, enter and lower the overhead lighting, and ask the client about the positioning of the table. The temperature, the upper incline, and the lower body bolster can all be adjusted for optimal comfort, and so can most aspects of the treatment room itself. Whether it’s white noise, music volume, humidity, or additional pillow support, don’t hesitate to inquire if something can be adapted for your treatment!

  • Only if you’d like to! Unless otherwise discussed, a massage will include scalp and neck treatment. Whatever style that can allow your head to rest most comfortably/flat on the table will be best, without pinning your hair against your neck or under the base of your head. Protective and religious head coverings are always supported and will not impact the quality of receiving massage therapy in any way.

  • If possible, all necklaces, chains, waist beads, and longer earrings should be removed. This will avoid any accidental pain for the client, and will also keep jewelry from getting damaged or dirty.

  • That is completely dependent on your comfort level. You will be properly draped at all times, and we will only remove the covering of your individual legs and arms as we work those areas. Many people leave lower underwear on, unless they have requested work on gluteal muscles, including sciatica and/or lower back pain treatment. If you are wearing a bra and would like to keep it on, please slide the straps underneath your arms so there is no barrier to shoulder and neck treatment!

  • NO. Even deep tissue treatments should not cause your nervous system to enter fight or flight. We should not cause muscles to fight back or go into a defense mode for the sake of “feeling better in a few days.” In our space, we vow that orthopedic benefit should not outweigh relaxation, and vice versa. Your therapist will check in occasionally, but if you need more or less pressure at any time throughout your treatment, don’t hesitate to let it be known.

  • This is YOUR time. Your therapist will follow your cues of how you would like your treatment to proceed after they begin with a breathing exercise. If conversation calms you, by all means chat away! And if the only silence you’ll get is in our space, that time is all yours. Always feel welcome to let your therapist know what you need for your specific treatment, even if that may differ from time to time.

  • Please never feel like you need to “push through” and wait until after your appointment if nature calls! There is a robe on hand in the treatment room for you to use, so let your therapist know that you need a quick break. We promise it’s the most relaxing solution; it’s not a disruption to the session whatsoever!
